Today we were reminded that God comforts us so we can comfort others. Paul wrote that God is “the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation” (2 Cor. 1:3–4). That comfort isn’t meant to stop with us — it’s meant to flow through us.
Even when Paul was “troubled on every side… yet not distressed” (2 Cor. 4:8), he found strength in God. And in 2 Corinthians 7, he spoke of joy mixed with sorrow, showing that God’s comfort reaches us even in repentance, struggle, and growth.
And just like Jesus lifted the woman in John 8 — offering mercy instead of condemnation — we are called to lift others with that same grace.
Christians should be comfort, because we have been comforted. Let’s pass along the peace, mercy, and encouragement God has poured into us.
